La Fortuna waterfall - walk down 500 steps and have a refreshing swim at the foot of this massive waterfall, or just wade in the cool waters below.

La Fortuna is inland and higher altitude so expect temperatures to be cooler, but also quite a bit more wet.
Arenal is the main volcano in the area and serves as the backdrop to many photos. Take a hike to the lower levels, or for more adventurous hikers, hike into Arenal's smaller brother Chato where you can hike to its rim and into the crater where a lake has formed.
